'Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege'

The Paint A Rainbow Foundation is the dream
of one man, its mission to help those in need, not just today but long into the future. By establishing a sound business framework,
the Foundation’s goal is to see every
dollar donated, working to achieve the greatest good. We encourage others to
share the dream.

Pat Sergi, OAM, has long dreamed of establishing a foundation that would inspire others to share his own joy in giving. His talent and passion for fundraising is the stuff of legend amongst those who have been beneficiaries of his largesse.

Through the Italian Affair Committee, of which he has been Chairman for 20 years, he has helped raise more than $12 million for the Spastic Centre. His gratitude for the restoration of his mother Anna’s eyesight was expressed with a $600,000 donation to the Fred Hollows Foundation from a fundraising ball. Following the first Bali bombing, Pat was instrumental in raising $460,000 which was distributed to the families of victims.

When the lives of the Waddell and Koroneos families were torn apart by a devastating fire, Pat again rallied his supporters to assist Alan Jones in raising funds. The $480,000 raised funded a new home for the Waddell family and extensive renovations for the Koroneos family, so they could rebuild their lives. The suffering that followed the Tsunami prompted Pat to once again turn his hand to fundraising and $850,000 was raised in just one night.

Pat decided several years ago that his future would be devoted to helping others. He established the Paint A Rainbow Foundation with the intent that it do more than respond to the crisis of the moment, instead providing on-going help, not just for today but many years into the future.

This could be achieved only by adhering to the principles that drove his own business success, so that the many thousands of dollars so generously donated are used to their full potential.
