Kim:

Kim’s love of horses developed at an early age spending time at her uncle’s trotting stables at Bankstown Kim developed a strong love and passion for horses. Over the years Kim’s devotion to horses strengthened leading her to a successful career in Harness Racing. Kim drove more than 100 winners throughout her career and was ranked NSW’s number one female driver during the early 80’s representing the State in the Annual Drivers Competition.

Kim’s promising driving career was cut short when she decided to venture into the thoroughbred industry. For several years Kim enjoyed a dual licence training both pacers and gallopers but eventually gave the standardbreds away to concentrate on the thoroughbreds.

Kim’s first major thoroughbred success was with Never True who took out the South Grafton Cup in 1991. Many winners have rolled on since then including a Doomben Classic with Enforced, Grafton Cup with the injury plagued Catapult and many city winners – recent winners include Magic Feather, Sir Craiglee, Con’s Amy and Kim’s stable star Mahtoum.

Today, Kim has firmly established herself as a horse trainer of the modern era with a drive to succeed and commitment to growing and developing a stable full of award winning horses.

Mark:

Mark Waugh played 368 first class matches in his cricketing career including 128 Tests, the third most by an Australian. He also played 244 One Day Internationals.

Waugh was one of the worlds’ most elegant and gifted strokemakers. A true entertainer who put team before personal milestones Mark was renowned for his tenacity and skill.

He scored over 8000 test and one day runs for Australia and made 80 first class tons, second only to Bradman by an Australian. He holds the world record for the most test catches at 181 and is the leading one day run scorer for Australia with the highest score of 173.

Don Bradman described Mark Waugh “as the most elegant batsman of the modern era”.

Mark’s involvement in horse racing started when his father would take him to Bankstown trots and Warwick Farm racecourse in his early teens. He has always shown a keen interest in following both harness racing and gallops racing, having been a dedicated form student and punter. His interest later on in both forms of racing has extended into breeding and also success in ownership.

In 2005 Mark and Kim established Club Waugh Racing a unique syndication program giving people the opportunity to feel the thrill and excitement of seeing a horse they have a vested interest in not only make the track but win. To date there are three syndications in operation with more planned for the future.
